Handmade Olive Wood Holy Family Figurine - Mother Child and St. Joseph Nativity
The tradition of carving olive wood in the Holy Land goes all the way back to the 4th century, mainly in Bethlehem, which continues to be the main city to produce this type of handicrafts.
This is a beautiful hand carved depiction of the Holy Family with Joseph leaning over a sitting Mother Mary cuddling Baby Jesus. There is a simple yet intricate feel to the piece and the contrasting grains and warm, rich tones of olive wood distinguish it from all other woods.
This piece stands 6" high and 3" across. It is in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or imperfections noted. There is a sticker on base indicating it is Olive Wood Hand Made in the Holy Land.
